Founded in 1950 by the Philadelphia Old-Timers Association with an inaugural induction class of 15, the National Soccer Hall of Fame (NSHOF) came under the oversight of the US Soccer Football Association in 1953.
For the next 26 years, the NSHOF was without a permanent location, finally finding a home in Oneonta, New York, in 1976. In its first ten years there the NSHOF resided in temporary quarters in downtown Oneonta. A dedicated facility for the NSHOF and its collection opened in 1999 in a location surrounded by soccer fields. That facility closed in 2010 and the NSHOF archives and collection of artifacts are now in storage.
Nevertheless, the designation of outstanding contributors to the game in the United States continues in three categories: Players, Veteran Players, and Builders. For eligibility information, click here.
Below are links to biographies of the Player (including both “Player” and “Veteran Player” inductees) and Builder members of the NSHOF, written by former NSHOF Historian Roger Allaway.
