Douglas Stewart

A college coach who was heavily involved in the founding of the United States Football Association.

Born in Scotland, and later settling in Philadelphia, Stewart was the soccer coach at the University of Pennsylvania from 1910 to 1942, played an important role in the organizing of the American Amateur Football Association in 1912 and then the USFA in 1913. He served from 1913 to 1926 as president of the Football Association of Pennsylvania, which he had helped to found in 1903.

Stewart was editor for many years of the Spalding college soccer guide.

Inducted in 1950.
