A leader of several major soccer organizations in southern California.
Duff was president of the Greater Los Angeles Soccer League beginning in 1953 and president of the California-South State Association beginning in 1959. Had served as secretary of both of those organizations before becoming president.
Duff, who was born in Scotland and originally emigrated to Canada, played for several Los Angeles-area clubs, including Los Angeles Rovers, Pasadena-Los Angeles AC and Magyar AC. He began his off-the-field soccer career as manager of the Los Angeles Magyar AC, leading it to a championship in his first year as manager.
